Flexbox Inner Column Background Impacts Entire Advanced Grid?

I created a new Flex section, kept only a single Flex column, and then added an Advanced Grid widget within it. I then added an Inner Column (formerly Flexbox) widget inside the Advanced Grid. For only the Inner Column, I changed the background to another color. This change impacts the entire Advanced Grid. How can I make a background color to this Inner Column ONLY apply to it and not the Advanced Grid?

I am trying to make several Text boxes (contained within this Inner Column) overlap with an Image, and make the Inner Column have a background to make the text stand out.
