When Do Native Store Plans Start Charging?

Hi all!

We're setting up a website that will have a native store, which will sell Digital Downloads. As soon as we tried adding the first Digital Download product to the store, a message came up asking us to "Upgrade" to a higher plan. The message makes it seem as if we're going to start paying for the higher plan as soon as we click. The site, however, is not even live - it's not yet published - so we don't want to start paying right now…

Is it possible to setup and test a store with Digital Download products without start paying for it while the site is not live yet?…

    Hi @visioncraft,

I checked with our eComm team, and you can save the products as Draft or Inactive until you'd like to upgrade and start a paid plan. Until the upgrade is made, you won't be able to checkout with the digital products.

I hope that helps clarify! 🙏

Ah, I understand that. So, you can simply set the product to "inactive" and it will still appear in the Editor. Can you try updating that status and seeing if it will display in the widget?

Thank you for the clarification, @ScottyStrehlow!

This imposes some difficult limitations when we are putting together the site for the client. For example: when use widgets that connect to product data, unless the product is 'published' (i.e, not 'draft') then it won't display in the widget. This makes it difficult for us to know whether we're building things correctly… Are you able to give us any hints or tips? 🙏

Also, I did get another update from our Product team that they soon plan to add a button that will "make all inactive products active" - this will hopefully save time as well.

@ScottyStrehlow just wanted to report back to you, that setting the products to 'inactive' did it - thank you! 🙏❤️

We should add this little tip to the Support docs somewhere - it's a real gem!

Oh, I'm so glad it is a solution for you! And yes, I did ask a member of my team to add it there as well.😊
