Failed Natural Spacing between Columns

Hi, I have been struggling with this issue for almost a year now.
I am genuinely curious if anyone else has experienced issues where the natural spacing/padding that exists between columns just up and fails. It has happened on a handful of my Duda sites.
**It is NOT merely an issue of adjusting the padding in global row settings.
These screencasts illustrate the problem quite clearly (though not succinctly, sorry :-) ).

2) Reproducing the problem with a new site/template
Again, curious to know if anyone else has seen this. And/or you might wanna watch for it.
