Link Preview: OpenGraph Images for iPhone

At some point in 2022, OG images for iMessage / iPhone stopped rendering the OG FB Image and instead started loading the smaller apple-touch-icon image in the link preview.

Previously, we just relied on the FB img with an aspect ratio / resolution of 1200x630 and the larger image would render in the iMessage link preview. Now, it appears the apple-touch-icon loads a 57x57 image. Is there anyway to make this stop and use the larger 1200x630 image?

I'd prefer the larger img render in the message as opposed to the small touch icon.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same problem! For some of my URLs it uses the og:image tag and for some of my URLs, it uses apple-touch-icon, even though I have an og:image meta tag on the page
